My 3D Iris - A Sculpture Conceptual Design

I am fascinated by an idea I call “My 3D Irises”. (See conceptual video below - click to allow file to open). I have a vision to use my iris paintings not only in 2D presentation but also assemble them in a 3D manner so the viewer can literally be inside them - like walking into the center of a huge iris- and walking around them on the outside. I would like to develop this idea for indoor pieces and outdoor presentation to extend the presentation availability of my work. The indoor sculptures involve developing multiple panel pieces to build the 3D environment. The outdoor pieces involve exploring durable outdoor materials and a method to paint in my style with exterior paint and exterior surface.

For the outdoor sculptures I want to use brushed aluminum panels for the exterior surface to paint on and aluminum square tubing for the framework and some kind of exterior paint – maybe some type of exterior acrylic enamel. I paint mostly with a wide brush with opaque and wet-on-wet watercolor effects, and I will need some kind of paint that will yield to the sensitivity I have developed using acrylic paint on canvas over many years.

Below is an animated video presenting this idea ( right click on purple background for controls of animation):
